Glass Fusing Fun

In November I attended a course at Douglas Arts Base (DAB) Mossman to learn how to fuse glass. It was a beginners class and we were all told to treat our first attempts as experiments...in other words expect cracks and parts not fusing etc. So we all stacked glass and made glass pictures etc and at the end of the day the glass went into the kiln to fuse. In a weeks time we were going to meet again to see how the fused pieces went, to learn glass slumping and play some more with fusing but circumstances beyond my control meant I could not attend.

Finally today I picked up my pieces....to my utter surprise they all fused....some better then others but I love them all!! Here they are...

The first three are glass coasters

The next three are for necklaces...the photo doesn't show but the one on the left and the right are very shimmery. There was a middle dot on the right one but it must have fallen off.

The last three below are glass Christmas tree decorations. All three were made with the same glass yet the middle one is lumpy...weird...I think glass has a mind of its own LOL. I'll wire wrap the tops to hide the hanging part I think.

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the glass fusing class and am mighty pleased how they turned out!
